Does your firm backbill clients?
Many of today's firms invoice clients in advance, but additions and withdrawals occur during each quarter. In most cases, additions occurring during the quarter can be invoiced; however, check your firm's ADV to be sure. Likewise, some withdrawals may generate offsetting credits. A transfer among accounts with the same fee structure should wash.
The challenge is in having systems capable of calculating the proper fees. Companies without this capability manually generate fees as they see necessary, or simply forgo the effort altogether.
